Jared Fogle and Planned Parenthood
Jared Fogle is a monster. For years this man has pushed sub sandwiches on America. Jared was the “everyman”. He was the prototype average joe. A formerly overweight man who with hard work and a propensity towards 6 inch plain turkey and cheese sandwiches lost nearly 200 pounds. He wore glasses, had a big smile and seemed like the guy next door. I imagined him driving around with his kids in a minivan and politely waving as he passed. Let’s be honest, Jared probably would have been nominated at our church for deacon.
I often ask God about people like Jared Fogle. Who is responsible for this type of behavior? Could it be that Jared is a product of too much money and too little accountability? It appears that he had powerful people who indulged his fantasies. Maybe Jared was abused himself as a child. As a pastor, I speak and counsel people who fall prey to sexual sin and many times they were abused as a child.
Jared Fogle is a monster. Why? He is a monster because he hurt, damaged, potentially destroyed, and abused children. Does this make you angry? Are you outraged? How could someone do something so heinous and indecent?
A couple of days ago, another video clearly showing that federally funded Planned Parenthood sponsors the sale, dissection and transportation of aborted children for profit. What’s worse, by the admission of Planned Parenthood staffers, the organization aborts late term, nearly born, children. These children, as reported by Planned Parenthood staffers, have heartbeats and the ability to struggle for survival. Planned Parenthood prides itself in aborting children while keep their bodies free from poison, dismemberment or “crushing” so that these children can be brutally dissected to harvest hearts, livers, lungs, and brains.
America has aborted over 57 million children since Roe vs. Wade. We kill our children at the rate of 3000 per day. We have killed more children than Hitler and Stalin. We have butchered more babies than people died in the Rwanda genocide. We have terminated more lives at the moment of birth than the Roman’s or Ottoman’s ever dreamed of killing. Those who fought and died in the Roman Colosseum had a better chance at survival than thousands of American babies. If you take all the genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries and combine all the deaths together, you still would not eclipse the amount of children that have died at the hands of abortion doctors and nurses.
My God what have we done? One day, I will stand before the King of Kings and I will have to respond why I have let this happen. I will have to tell the Almighty why I did nothing. We all will. Every one of us is responsible. We are all copiable for this crime against creation.
Why is it wrong for Jared Fogle to sexually molest and abuse children; yet there seems to be no outrage for the millions of children who die brutal, horrible, extremely painful deaths? We are angry at Jared, as we should be, but we remain silent on the issue of abortion.
“You cannot tell a woman what to do with her body.” Really? That is simply not true. In a sermon by Pastor Matt Chandler, he maintains that we tell women what they can and cannot do with their bodies all the time. Women are prohibited from using their bodies as prostitutes. Did you know that FIFA has made it illegal for women soccer players to use steroids? You can include the WNBA, National Soccer League, National Pro Fast pitch, and Women’s Track and Derby to that list as well. All of these organizations say that a woman does not have the final say so over her body.
Women serving in the military are commanded to keep their hair a certain way. They must maintain strict physical fitness and dress their bodies in military specific clothing. No one runs around yelling about injustice of women’s sports leagues or the military.
Jesus certainly didn’t mind telling women what to do with their bodies. Neither did Paul. Friends, we do not have sole ownership of our bodies. Biblically, our bodies do not even belong to us.
The human body is an incredible creation of God. It's in the Bible, Psalm 139:14, NKJV. "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
What am I worth? You were redeemed with the priceless and pure blood of Christ. It's in the Bible, 1 Peter 1:18-19, NKJV. "knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot"
Can I do what I want, it is my body? Your body belongs to God and serves as a temple of the Holy Spirit. It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 6:19-20, NKJV. "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
Jared abuses children. These children found a voice and now a monster is heading to jail. Yet, the 3000 children that will die today have no voice. Us churchgoers have grown numb to their silent pleas for help and distracted by the same ole tired arguments of “it’s ok if its a rape or incest”. Hogwash! Preposterous! Imagine that that child who is a product of rape or incest is already born. That child is 12 years old today. Would you kill that child because of how he or she was formed? Would you happily cut the spinal cord of that child ending it’s life because of the situation in which it was formed and made? Of course you wouldn’t. Why? Because that would be considered murder.
“Abortion is ok as long as it saves the life of the mother.” Friend, I have been a pastor for several years. I have been in hospital room after hospital room and visited new mothers hundreds of lives. My own wife has given birth twice. I have recently spoken to doctors who work near our church and each doctor has stated that in their medical careers that they have never seen cause to terminate a child’s life to save the mother’s life. This does not mean that efforts to save the mother from a critical delivery has led to the death of the child. However, they have never seen necessary to abort a child to save the mother. It simply does not exist.
Thousands of doctors have recently signed the Dublin Declaration on Maternal Heath. The declaration maintains that it is not necessarily to terminate the life of an unborn child to save the life of the mother.
“Almost 900 medical professionals have now signed the Dublin Declaration on Maternal Health, launched in 2012 to declare that abortion is not needed to save women’s lives.
Unveiled at the International Symposium on Maternal Healthcare in Dublin, Ireland, the declaration states: “As experienced practitioners and researchers in obstetrics and gynecology, we affirm that direct abortion – the purposeful destruction of the unborn child – is not medically necessary to save the life of a woman.
“We uphold that there is a fundamental difference between abortion, and necessary medical treatments that are carried out to save the life of the mother, even if such treatment results in the loss of life of her unborn child.
“We confirm that the prohibition of abortion does not affect, in any way, the availability of optimal care to pregnant women.”’
I maintain all human life is important. Black lives matter. While lives matter. Chinese lives matter. Every life matters. Mother’s lives matter. The lives of unborn human children matter. I believe that human life matter more than any other type of life. Human lives matter more than whales, lost puppies and hamsters. Why do I feel this way? Humanity was created in the image of God. We bear His distinct mark and carry within us the breath of life. We are the chief and crown of His creation. Jesus did not die for Cecil the Lion or Gary the Gazelle. Jesus died for humanity.
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created man in his own image, both male and female he created them.”
I Peter 3:18
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
As a Christian I am horrified that I have stood silent as my fellow unborn image bearers have had their faces split down the middle so their brains could be harvested for science experiments. As a Christian I weep that so many potential mothers feel that there is no other answer outside of abortion. They have not found the answer in the church. They have not found the answer in other believers. They have not seen the answer in me. It’s my fault. It’s your fault. It’s our fault. God have mercy on us all.
Folks, Jared Fogle and organizations like Planned Parenthood are evil. They are evil because they hurt kids. Jesus has a special punishment for people that hurt children.
Matthew 18:6 ESV
But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
Luke 17:2 ESV
It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.
I pray that the same moral outrage over Jared Fogle would find its way to the topic of abortion. Maybe you are like me and you are wondering what you can do to end this nightmare. First, pray. Pray and ask God to forgive you for staying either silent or ignorant. Next, participate. Below is an online petition requesting that the US government end the federal funding to Planned Parenthood.
I signed it today. Next, pray for mothers who have not terminated the lives of their unborn children. Ask God to to help them find hope and not succumb to selfish motives. Pray that our society will no longer be blind to the American Infanticide.
Remember when I said that these unborn children do not have a voice. I was wrong. They do have a voice. It is me and you. We can speak up and make a difference. We can take over social media and pass this blog and others like it along.
God bless you and may He have mercy on us all.
